Doctorflix Review : What happens when a glamorous investment banker and a rather uncouth sari trader become travel companions? This is the theme around which Chalo Dilli is based and it works quite well mostly because the lead actors fit their characters like a glove.
Lara Dutta’s affectedly genteel ways and Vinay Pathak’s not-so-well-groomed, not-a-care-in-the-world attitude are contradictory. But both are good souls and develop a bond after enduring the travails of the journey from Mumbai to Delhi via Jaipur.
The movie has its moments and fun parts but you a tighter script could have add more pizzazz. There are many characters that the two encounter during their journey and this makes for an interesting watch. The film’s item song ‘Laila o Laila’ picturised on Yana Gupta is quite good. A few clichés and some illogical bits mar only slightly what is undoubtedly a decent watch.
Chalo Dilli (Lara Dutta, Vinay Pathak) [53/100] Impressive performances, heart-warming moments and amusing bits all add up to a decent film worth a watch.
